What do these birds have in common? They are all birds of paradise! There are three dozen species of these birds. You see the 1st bird above? It is performing a mating dance, showing of its power and skill (is THAT supposed to be attractive?!).That is all I know about it.

I saw some of these birds on an episode of Planet Earth. There is a plant with the name "Bird of Paradise" but it is a plant and not a bird.
These birds are really beautiful.
I always think of a "Bird of Paradise" as a plant. I have one in my backyard. My sister, your great aunt Nelle, brought it to me. It is a baby of one of her plants. My daddy had a beautiful Arizona bird of paradise in his backyard, and he gave me some of it. But it died. North Texas is too cold for it. I wonder if the birds could live in here?
